Dontà ©  © Lamar Stallworth (born November 10, 1980) is a former American soccer recipient who plays ten seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played soccer in Tennessee and was designed by the New Orleans Saints in the first round of the 2002 NFL Draft.

Initial years

Stallworth was born in Sacramento, California. College career

Stallworth played soccer at the University of Tennessee for Volunteers, where his nickname was "Hands", when his comrades witnessed his ability to come up with seemingly impossible catchments on a regular basis. After leaving for the NFL, the 1,747th receiving yard was ranked ninth in the list throughout the school year. He majored in psychology.

Professional career

New Orleans Saints

Stallworth was selected by the New Orleans Saints in the first round (overall 13) of the 2002 NFL Draft. He made his NFL debut against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on September 8th. He caught eight goals pass by in 2002, his rookie year, but sees less action next season. As a full-time starter in 2004, he has received 767 yards and five goals. In 2005, he recorded 70 high career receptions for 945 yards with seven goals.

Philadelphia Eagles

On August 28, 2006, Stallworth was sold to the Philadelphia Eagles for midfielder Mark Simoneau and a conditional fourth round pick in the 2007 NFL Draft. In Stallworth's first game with the Eagles, less than two weeks after trading, he caught six bait for 141 yards and one goal. Due to a troubling hamstring injury, he missed three games at the start of the regular season, but ended the year with 725 yards and five touchdowns. A hamstring injury has been a persistent problem throughout his professional career.

In March 2007, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Stallworth was in a league substance abuse program.

First assignment with Patriots

On March 11, 2007, Stallworth agreed to make peace with the New England Patriots on a reported six-year deal worth $ 30 million with a $ 3.5 million guarantee. The contract was a laden incentive, which meant that the Patriots could release him if he performed poorly for a fraction of the full contract. On February 22, 2008, the Patriots refused his contract option and he became a free agent.

Cleveland Browns

On November 15, 2011, he again signed a contract with the Redskins after wide receiver Leonard Hankerson and defensive end, Kedric Golston, were wounded. After returning to the team, Stallworth will catch a touchdown pass at the endzone in Sunday 11 against the Dallas Cowboys allowing the Redskins to go into overtime. At the end of the 2011 season, Stallworth recorded 22 receptions, 309 receiving yards, and two touchdowns.

Second job with Patriots

On March 19, 2012, Stallworth signed a contract with the New England Patriots. On August 27, 2012, Stallworth was released by Patriots. On December 3, 2012, Stallworth again signed a contract with the Patriots due to his broken right leg experienced by wide receiver Julian Edelman and lack of depth in wide receiver positions. On 11 December, it was reported that Stallworth was placed on injury reserve with an ankle injury after only playing in one game during his short refund and making a 63-yard reception for touchdown.

Second job with Redskins

He has covered stories ranging from US relations with Cuba to Israel's Hillary Clinton policies and Iran's nuclear program. Although the alliance lasted six months, Stallworth expressed the hope that he would be permanently employed. In 2016 Stallworth was hired by Daveed Gartenstein-Ross at Valens Global as a Strategic Consultant. Stallworth's work at Valens focuses on securing and hardening public places against terror attacks.

Personal life

Stallworth was hospitalized on March 16, 2013, with serious burns after a hot air balloon carrying him and two others crashed into a power grid above South Florida.

DUI killing bills

On the morning of March 14, 2009, Stallworth attacked and killed a pedestrian while driving his car on the eastern end of MacArthur Causeway in Miami Beach, Florida. Stallworth headed to the beach when he hit Mario Reyes, 59. Police initially investigated further accidents to see whether the allegations against Stallworth would be justified.

Stallworth claimed to drink the night before the accident. According to preliminary reports, Stallworth was drunk legally and reported under the influence of marijuana at the time of the accident; news sources reported that the alcohol content in the blood was 0.12, exceeding the legal limit of 0.08. Stallworth claims that he turned on his car lights to warn Reyes before attacking him. A Miami Beach police report said Reyes was not at a busy intersection when he was snapped up by a 2005 Bentley Continental GT black driven by Stallworth. Police estimate Stallworth to drive about 50 mph in the 40 mph zone. The construction crane operator is trying to catch the bus home after finishing his shift around 7:15 am.

Stallworth was charged with the DUI assassination on April 1, 2009; he surrendered to the police on April 2, 2009, and was released on bail of $ 200,000. As a result of the plea agreement, he received a 30-day sentence in a county jail, plus 1,000 hours of community service, 2 years of community control, and an 8-year probation. He also received a lifetime suspension from a Florida state license. On July 10, 2009, Stallworth was released from county jail after serving a 24-day 30-day sentence.

The Associated Press reported on June 16, 2009, that Stallworth and the Reyes family reached a financial deal, avoiding a civil suit. Number of settlements not disclosed.

On August 13, 2009, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell stated that Stallworth would be suspended for the entire 2009 season without pay. Stallworth was restored after Super Bowl XLIV.

A Yahoo! The sports story published Aug. 12, 2010, reports that Stallworth's lawyer indicated he could fight all charges with "a good chance of being found not guilty," but Stallworth chose to be punished for committing a crime to do what he thought was morally correct. The article later notes that David Cornwell, one of Stallworth's lawyers, feels there is irony in reaction to Stallworth's decision because the public and the media criticize the defense deal without knowing the full story.
