Jason Patrick Callahan (April 18, 1976 - June 26, 1995), formerly known as Grateful Doe and Jason Doe , was an American man killed in a car accident on June 26, 1995, in Emporia, Greensville County, Virginia. His body remains anonymous until December 9, 2015. Earlier in 2015, photos of unknown men appeared on the Facebook page for John Doe. The DNA test then confirms Callahan to be an unknown person.

Death

Callahan was killed in a vehicle accident, along with the driver, Michael Hager, after Vanagon where they crashed into a pair of trees on Route 58 of the West West around 1:30 pm on June 26, 1995. Nobody wore a seatbelt that was likely to contribute to each other, their deaths. Found with Callahan's body are two Grateful Dead tickets from Washington, D.C., which have been flaked, a dollar a quarter, and a light yellow BIC. A letter found, depending on the source either in John Doe's pocket or near the crash site, read: For Jason, Sorry we have to go, see you later, call me # 914-XXXX. Caroline T. and Caroline O. Bye !!!! . The phone number on the letter does not have an area code and never leads to additional instructions. The letter also contains a small picture that some speculation may be from Jerry Garcia. Tickets dated June 24, 1995, and June 25, 1995, respectively. None of the 'Carolines' has ever been identified.

Physical description

The boy, who is estimated to be between fifteen and twenty-one, has brown eyes with long blond hair or dark brown that has been colored with reddish color. There was a star tattoo on his upper left arm and another possible tattoo, which was faded, on his right arm, both of which turned out to have been executed amateurically. He was wearing a bead necklace and his left ear had been stabbed but he was not wearing earrings. There was a scar found on his back. He is a Caucasian, has no clear dental work because his third molar teeth are visible. However, his teeth were treated fairly well. At the time of the accident she was wearing a red T-shirt, a Grateful Dead tie-dip, Levi jeans, white socks and Fila's black running shoes.

Investigation

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Michael E. Hager, 21, who may have picked John Doe as a pedestrian, and the hypothesized authorities may fall asleep behind the wheel, as none of the people who died had any drugs or alcohol in their bodies. It has been suggested that Hager may have agreed to transport John Doe because of their similar dress style, as they both seem to be fans of The Grateful Dead. The authorities attempted to identify John Doe through fingerprint analysis with the help of a national database, but to no avail.

When interviewed, the Hager family was unable to identify unknown passengers, who had reportedly climbed on Hager's Volkswagen Vanagon when he stopped to give his father a letter in Williamsburg, Virginia. However, a county detective claimed that this claim was inaccurate, and that Hager was alone when he stopped to visit his father. It is estimated that the unidentified youth had actually been picked up between Fairfax and Gloucester, Virginia.

Due to the severity of the laceration on John Doe's face, morgue photographs can not be released to the public, although facial reconstruction is then released. In 2012, other facial reconstructions are made by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The guy who originally bought the tickets found in John Doe's pocket does not remember the person who sold it to them. At least 221 missing persons were dismissed as a possible identity of the victim.

2015's development

In 2015, photographs emerged from a young man dressed in a suit similar to that worn by John Doe and who had a strong resemblance to the reconstruction pictures. The person in these photos is named Jason and is described as being a Grateful Dead fan. He has not been heard since 1995 and is known to live in Illinois and South Carolina. It has not been verified whether this is indeed John Doe because his former roommate and other friends do not remember Jason's last name. The New York Post and BuzzFeed are some newspapers covering the news.

In January 2015, law enforcers performed a DNA test to see if John Doe was the same man as Jason Patrick Callahan, the son of a 63-year-old woman who had not seen him or heard since June 1995, when he went home to "follow the Grateful Dead". Callahan, identified as a young man in the photographs, is described as a white male with wavy blond hair and brown eyes, standing between 5 feet 10 inches (1.78 meters) and 6 feet (1.83 meters) tall , and weighs about 160 pounds (70 kilograms). Callahan, if he's alive, will be 38 at the time. Callahan is not reported missing by his mother until 2015.

Lieutenant Joey Crosby, a Myrtle Beach police spokesman, stated that Mr Callahan's mother failed to file a report with the police because of the nomadic nature of the Grateful Dead fans. "He tried to report it when he lost but did not know which jurisdiction should report it," he said. Callahan's family also stated that they thought he was going to "live alone, elsewhere."

After the initial tests proved inconclusive, additional DNA testing confirmed that the body was indeed like Jason Callahan.
