Endsleigh Insurance is a UK-based insurance brokerage based in Cheltenham that specializes in student, education, graduate and sports markets. This is the insurance company of choice for some unions and professional associations.
The Endsleigh Group consists of several sections including Endsleigh Insurance and Endsleigh Business (EBIS). Endsleigh Insurance offers a range of insurance products from car insurance, homes, travel and students to landowners, public responsibilities and tenants. Business Endsleigh offers businesses and professional insurance companies. Endsleigh claims to have more than 500,000 subscribers.
Currently, Endsleigh is the only authorized and Registered Insurance company of the National Student Union and is wholly owned by Asuransi Zurich who also runs its British operations from Cheltenham. In early 2009, managing director Mike Alcock moved to Zurich insurance to become head of UK distribution, paving the way for Ian Passmore to become Managing Director. After several corporate reshuffles, King of Endleigh is now Jeff Brinley.

Histori
Presented by former University of Nottingham student Michael Jeremy Naylor, Endsleigh was founded by the National Union of Students (NUS) in 1965 to provide tailored insurance services for students and students. It may be named either Endsleigh Street, Endsleigh Place or Endsleigh Gardens, in Bloomsbury, at Duke Bedford Estate Bedford. Under Mike Naylor's lead and driver's hand as Managing Director, it quickly grew into a professional graduate and marketplace. Since its establishment, the company is the only insurance company recommended by NUS and is now the preferred insurance supplier for many professional associations, including the National Association of School Teacher Associations of Female Teachers, Association of University Teachers and Optometrist Associations.
In 1970, Endsleigh moved from his London base to Cheltenham Spa, where he continued to hire a relatively young but highly ambitious staff, selected for their encouragement and talent, to create an organization that appealed to customers of the same age. This approach challenges the more traditional aspects of marketing and administration of conventional insurance.
In 1976, NUS sold 100% of the company to Gouda Insurance International, as it felt a stronger financial base was needed to fully exploit market opportunities. NUS retained two seats on board and in 1982 bought back a 14% stake. In July 1995, Endsleigh founder and driving influence, Mike Naylor, died in a car accident in South France at the age of 59 years.
From 1993 to 1996, Endsleigh sponsors the English Football League. From 1988 to 1999 Endsleigh was the main shirt sponsor for Burnley F.C., with a logo appearing on the player's shirts, and it did the same for Cheltenham Town F.C. from 1997 to 1999. In the late 1990s to early 2000s, a club called Endsleigh, later known as EFC Cheltenham, played in the Hellenic Football League.
Zurich
In April 2002, management purchases, led by Managing Director Mike Alcock, bought Gouda and established a partnership with Zurich Financial Services.
The company moved into the business market in 2000, and this combined with a 25% increase in subscriber base helped jump profits from Ã, Â £ 2.5m in 2000 to Ã, Â £ 8.6m in 2003. In February 2005, Sunday Times PricewaterhouseCooper Profit Track 100 'rated Endsleigh as the fastest growing company 76 in the UK, 52% per annum.
In January 2007, Zurich acquired a 100% share ownership. Starting September 1, 2008, Endsleigh ceased operation of its local branch service (consisting of 119 UK Branches). This was followed in early 2011 by the closure of the operations center in Belfast, and the company is now operated from two sales operations centers - Cheltenham Headquarters, and Burnley. The Cheltenham location also manages all areas of business unrelated to sales, such as Marketing, Finance, IT, and business subsidiaries dealing with financial advice and business insurance, among other interests.
