Highway 39 is a paved highway located in the southern Canadian province of Saskatchewan that connects North Portal and Moose Jaw to the north. This is Saskatchewan's principal highway run by provincial and national governments that provide major trucking and tourism routes between the United States via Portal, Burke County, North Dakota, US and North Portal, Saskatchewan. On July 3, 2000, the Freeway and Transport Minister Maynard Sonntag led a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open a new duty-free shop and a twin motorway at the busiest intersection of Saskatchewan's border. Highway 39 is one of Canada's busiest highways, facilitating a $ 6 billion transport in merchandise through approximately 100,000 trucks throughout the year. The entire highway 39 is paved. The CanAm Highway consists of Saskatchewan Highways Hwy 35, Hwy 39, Hwy 6, Hwy 3, and Hwy 2. 44.3 miles (71.3 km) from Saskatchewan Highway 39 contributing to the CanAm Highway between Weyburn and Corinne. Highway 39 is divided or twinned in two areas in North Portal as well as north of Weyburn as far as 1.7 kilometers (1.1 mi). The Hwy 39 intersection with Trans-Canada divided into four lane highways is done through "Parclo" or a partial clover junction.

Travel route

Starting in the southeast is the North Portal or port of North Portal customs which is the only duty-free shop in the province. Coalfields No. 4 rural municipalities depend on their pasture, oil wells and coal mining. The land on both sides of the Souris River is too rocky for agricultural purposes. Although an underground coal mine lined the Souris River valley has been closed, two large dragline surface coal mines are still operating to increase agricultural income for residents of Bienfait and Roche Percà © e.

Estevan, power center and the 8th largest city of Saskatchewan offer tours of Rafferty Dam, Boundary Dam Power, Dam Dam, Shand Power Station and Shand Greenhouse. The town of Estevan is dubbed the Capital of Energy of Saskatchewan, as it is equipped with coal, natural gas and oil resources. Prairie Mines & amp; Royalty Ltd. (PMRL) operates two major coal mines, The Boundary Dam Mine and Bienfait Mine supplying 6.1 million tonnes of cubic coal to Shand Power Station and Boundary Dam Power Station. Woodlawn Regional Park features the Souris Valley Theater featuring live drama.

Weyburn, the city of opportunity, has also been nicknamed Soo Line City because of his relationship with Chicago on the Soo Line from Canadian Railway Railway CPR. "Extensive flood control programs have created reservoirs, parks and waterfowl centers along the Souris River." Between 1988 and 1995, the Rafferty-Alameda Project was built to address the problem of flood springs created by the Souris River.

Rouleau is the host city for Canada's popular sitcom, Gas Corner, which aired its final season in Canada. The show was held at Dog River, Saskatchewan's fictional city.

Near the northern end is Moose Jaw, also called "Little Chicago". Moose Jaw, is the city 32,132 at the crossroad Sk Hwy 1 Trans-Canada and Sk Hwy 2. The Capone, Moose Family, and Mac the Moose cars are all great attractions on the roadside of Moose Jaw. Moose Jaw Trolley Company (1912) still operates an electric cable trolley that offers a tour of Moose Jaw. Temple Gardens Mineral Spa Resort, Tunnels of Moose Jaw, and History of Transportation Western Development Museum. is the main site of interest from this city. The Moose Jaw and Thunder Creek time points produce the best water source for the steam engine, and Moose Jaw becomes the CPR division point. AgPro Inland Grain Terminal is operated by Saskatchewan Wheat Pool. This large-capacity concrete grain terminal replaces the many smaller grain elevators along the highway, guarding most of the people along the route. Technological improvements to harvest, transportation and road construction have made large inland terminals more economical. The rural government agency around Moose Jaw is Moose Jaw No. 161 serving 1,228 residents (census 2006) that includes Moose Jaw, Canadian Forces Base. Meat processing plants, salt, potassium, urea fertilizer, ammonia anhydride and ethanol producers are abundant in this area with easy transportation access to the Trans-Canada Highway.

History

Trains will not build across western borders without settlement because it would be too expensive to provide rail service in the barren wilderness. Clifford Sifton's immigration policy encourages migrants to arrive. Western settlements began and immigration crossed the border of Manitoba and the United States to the North West Territories which later became Saskatchewan. The last best western immigration settlement and early highway started in the southeast. The Federal Government survey crew reached the south east of Assiniboia District, North West Territories in 1880. In 1881, the province of Manitoba expanded to its present limits and land could be bought for $ 10.00 an acre. The US Homestead President Lincoln Act was passed in 1862 and the land there was taken. In 1872, Canada passed the Land Law Officers who attracted the inhabitants of the house to the West.

Saskatchewan Provincial Highway 39 parallel to the upper reaches of the Souris River and the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) along the southeastern part of the route. This highway crosses the diagonal path from southeast to northwest. The road follows the initial surveyed roadway allowances made by Highway Highway 39 , the predecessor of Saskatchewan Highway 39 following the surveyed CPR class or Soo Line between the United States. border and east of Moose Jaw. A rural municipality (R.M.) is an elected government system that provides essential services such as police, fire, health, education and infrastructure services to rural residents. For example, L.I.D. 64 is the precursor of Brock No. 64 in Assiniboia district, North West Territories. Historically, citizens can pay taxes or provide a few days per quarter of workers who build roads, bridges and security, instead of paying taxes. This civilian government with its elected officials attended the maintenance and construction of early pioneer roads. Two horses then eight skyscrapers maintain this initial dirt road.

In 1940 Hwy 39 was shown on the map when traveling on the diagonal and straightened, no longer was the road described in the square . However, the 1955 map of the map still shows the segment of the right corner of the highway near Corinne and the highway south of Estevan to the North Portal.

In 1947 and 1948, the highway was paved from Portal North to the intersection with Hwy 6 in Corinne. However, the paved surface has become damaged within a few years; a Leader-Post reporter wrote in 1953 that "almost the entire road, from North Portal to Corinne is just a collection of big holes, holes, and cracks, and in some places the hard surface is completely gone." Director of the Motor Vehicle Transportation Association of Saskatchewan A.R. Mang blames poor road conditions for failing to place a suitable "base line", a layer of gravel and clay, between sidewalks and earthen ground bases. The 1955 map shows that the segment between Estevan and Lang has returned to the gravel and the 1956 roadmap shows all the segments between Weyburn and Estevan as gravel roads. These maps also show the segment between Corinne and intersections with Trans Canada Highway as gravel. Repairs are done at great cost, but the situation requires temporary restrictions on heavy traffic and rerouting traffic along the nearest road.

The Highway and Transport Minister Maynard Sonntag announced the highway coating for Hwy 39 for the summer of 2001. Highways and Transport Minister Mark Wartman announced highway coatings for Highway 39 in 2003. Prime Minister ChrÃÆ' Â © tien and Premier Calvert announced major road improvements which had to be completed for Highway 39 in 2007. This highway upgrade saw a twin highway at North Portal for easy access to the new task-free shop. A group of so-called Soo Corporation Corporations Association supports many of Hwy 39 and parts of Hwy 6 to create a continuous twin corridor that stretches from Regina to North Portal to boost Saskatchewan's trade with the United States. Premier Calvert has expressed interest in the proposal but no action has been taken to implement it.

CanAm Highway

The 71.7 kilometer (44.6 mi) segment between Weyburn and Corinne is designated as part of the CanAm Highway. Near Corinne, Hwy 39 concurrent with Hwy 6, at Corinne, CanAm Highway continues north on Hwy 6. South WeAnburn CanAm Highway crosses the Canadian US border via Hwy 35. "Projects on Highways 39 and 6 will help to improve current traffic through this Canadian/US port. 'Highways 6 and 39 are very important for Saskatchewan - serving as a major north-south trade network of trade and corridors to the US,' Sonntag said.
