Careers
Dennis started as a mud bogger with his original Grave Digger primary truck in 1981. This truck was a 1952 Ford pickup truck, later converted into a 1951 blue and blue 1951 Ford Panel truck. At one local event, the scheduled giant truck failed to appear and Anderson, who already owned a large tractor tire on the truck, offered to destroy the car in the absence of a full-size monster. The success of the vehicle caused Anderson to pursue a monster truck as a career.
In 1986 Grave Digger underwent a transformation to complete the monster truck and first received his distinctive black tomb paint scheme. In 1987 and 1988, Anderson drove a truck especially in the TNT Motor sports race. In 1988 Anderson defeated Bigfoot in Saint Paul, Minnesota, on the show recorded for ESPN.
Anderson moved to Grave Digger 2 in 1989, with a new 1950 Chevrolet van panel body. TNT began promoting the heavy Grave Digger, especially for races in the syndicated television series Tuff Trax and ESPN Powertrax. This was helped by Bigfoot running a limited schedule in the 1989 championship. He is currently sixth in the standings in the 1990 TNT series when he decided to build Grave Digger 3 by accident.
When TNT became part of USHRA in 1991, Anderson began a USHRA tour and debuted his first four-link truck, Grave Digger 3.
In late 1998, due to financial difficulties, Anderson sold the gravedigger team to the SRO/Pace, which later became the owner of USHRA, causing controversy and accusations of cheating races because Anderson was driving for the same company that runs the events. In 1999 he won his first championship in the USHRA series. In 2001, he drove Mr. Destruction to the wall of the car as a special action for Superdome show in Louisiana. Anderson won the Monster Jam World Finals freestyle champion in 2000, and scored a racing championship victory at the 2004 World Final. He won another racing championship in the 2006 World Finals that drove Grave Digger 20. Anderson also won the 2009 Final World Racing Championship which also drove the Grave Digger.
Anderson juga seorang co-host di History Channel's Around the World in 80 Ways .
During the Summer Might Period 2018 of the Second Monster Summer on September 18, 2017, Anderson had a special message for his fans. Surrounded by the Digger family, Dennis officially announces he will retire from the sport. He also shared that he will remain "Behind the scenes" at events, appearing with his team. His last event took place in Tampa, Florida at Raymond James Stadium on January 14, 2017.

Injuries
Anderson has several injuries during his career. In late 1991 he broke his kneecap when he hit a wall at Horizon Rosemont in Chicago, forcing him to sit outside the winter of 1992. He recovered and defeated Jack Willman Jr. at Taurus at Carter Finley Stadium in Raleigh, North Carolina. Then in 1992, a hard blow on the wall of Louisville Motor Speedway in Louisville, Kentucky broke several ribs near his spine and caused repeated problems throughout his career. A nose dive, AKA grass arrow, at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans in 1999 aggravated the injury and caused Anderson to miss several shows over the next few years. He recovered himself at a Special Occasion show in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. A broken hand from a driving accident in Philadelphia in 2003 has left him with a half-year absence. The lesser known injury occurred during the summer of 2006 in a non-monster truck accident when Anderson injured his wrist. He also suffered a shoulder injury at Metrodome in late 2006, where his son Adam Anderson drove the Grave Digger in the show in early 2007 to The Monster Jam World Finals 8
In 2017, Anderson was hospitalized after an accident while trying to backflip.
On March 10, 2017, it was announced that Anderson would not compete in the 18th World Finals due to an injury previously stated.
Hallmark
Anderson often crashed or damaged his truck early in the race because of his driving style. For this reason, he has the nickname "One Run Anderson".
Back in his young mud mud days, he was known for running full, throwing mud everywhere. He will make a mess, or break the truck from heavy loads for most of the events. Coincidentally and reasonably fit, his latest work has brought Anderson 'full circle' - back to the mud - a specially constructed giant mud truck called the King Sling. The truck, a 1941 Willys truck with a specially cut tractor tire and modern chassis and suspension components, carries twice the horsepower of its monster truck, the Grave Digger. The truck is the favorite exhibit vehicle in the mud because it is a combination of a giant mud vehicle with a giant mud driver.
