Globe Life Field is a baseball park under construction in Arlington, Texas. It will serve as the home of the Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball. Globe Life and Accident Insurance Company, McKinney's subsidiary, Texas-based Otormark Corporation, have the naming rights for the facility until 2048. The new Ballpark will be built across the street just south of Globe Life Park.
On May 20, 2016, Rangers announced that they would vacate Globe Life Park in Arlington. The new stadium will be built in a public/private partnership and has a roof that can be opened. Average has been approved on the following Election Day. HKS, Inc. announced as an architect on January 5, 2017.
The Rangers call the weather a reason for attendance at Globe Life Park lower than in other baseball stadiums in major metropolitan areas, as it is prone to high temperatures and rain delays. Therefore, Rangers proposed a new roughness they built with a roof. Unlike its predecessor, the new stadium's central square will face northeast, not southeast.
In 2008, the Dallas Cowboys NFL managed to move to a retractable roof stadium due to the frequent hot weather at the Metroplex. The venue is opened in time for the 2009 season.
Early 3D renderings and new stadium artwork show a design that is very similar to the appearance and layout of Minute Maid Park, the Houston Astros stadium. The final design has not been unveiled as of August 2017. A new shopping center, as well as Hotel Loews, and a village ballpark are planned to go along with the new stadium. Plans to build the stadium have produced mixed reactions. The new stadium will mean a more comfortable environment for baseball watching but will extend the existing taxes used to pay AT & P Stadium. According to the Dallas Morning News, "The deal calls on the city to spend $ 500 million in bonds to help pay for the stadium, half a percent of sales tax, 2 percent hotel occupancy tax and 5 percent car rental tax will pay them bonds for more than 30 years. also approved a ticket tax of up to 10 percent and a parking tax of up to $ 3 at the new stadium.The money will be used for some part of Rangers's debt, which is criticized by opposition campaigns.
