Emilio H. Navaira III (August 23, 1962 - May 16, 2016) is an American singer-songwriter Tejano and country music. She is the winner of one Grammy Award and one Latin Grammy Award.

Known mostly by the Emilio mononim, he charted more than ten singles on the Hot Latin Tracks charts, in addition to six singles on Billboard Hot Country Singles & amp; Track chart. Emilio is also one of several successful Tejano artists in the United States and Mexico, and is called "Garth Brooks of Tejano". Hit the largest country is No. 27 "It's Not the End of the World" at the end of 1995, and his highest single on any chart is "Por Siempre Unidos," which reached number 7 in Latin Pop Airplay in 1996. Emilio H. Navaira III was born on August 23, 1962, in San Antonio, Texas, to Mexican-American parents, Emilio Navaira, Jr. and Maria Hernandez. Growing on the southern side of San Antonio, Navaira found every influence not only in Tejano legends like Little Joe y la Familia but also Lone Star country music heroes like Willie Nelson, Bob Wills and George Strait. As a student, Navaira graduated from McCollum High School in 1980, received a music scholarship to Texas State University, and majored in music with plans to become a teacher before finally deciding to pursue a career as an artist.

Musical career

In 1983 at the age of 21, Emilio started his performance career by singing lead vocals for David Lee Garza Los Musicales. In 1987, Cuantas Veces by David Lee Garza Y Los Musicales defeated Alpha by Mexican American singer Selena for the Album of the Year at the Tejano Music Awards. In 1989, Navaira formed his own band, Emilio y Grupo Rio. In the same year Emilio signed a contract with Columbia Records (then known as CBS Records). This relationship resulted in Emilio recording more than fifteen studio albums to date, including some with his Rio Band.

In the mid-1990s, Emilio began to credit himself as Emilio, who eventually shifted his focus to country music. Between 1989 and 1996, Emilio has released seven Spanish albums with cumulative sales of around 2 million. This success led to major commercial exposure, with companies like Coca-Cola and Wrangler Jeans using the songs in their commercials in the 1990s. Emilio also got sponsorship with a beer Miller Lite, who had persuaded him to use their slogan at the time, "Life is good," as the title of his first country album.

Emilio signed a contract with Capitol Records and released his first country music single entitled "It's Not the End of the World" that reached the Top 30 on the country charts in 1995. His album was a staggering success and reached No. 1. 13 on the country charts as well as high placement in the Top 200. Other singles including the Spanish version of "It's Not the End of the World" were followed but none of these singles approached the Top 40 except "Even If I Tried" which reached No. 1. 41 in 1996. In 1997, she released her second country album, "It's On The House" but it was not as successful as her first country album. Two smaller country singles followed and gradually Emilio faded from country music and increasingly returned to Tejano music.

Her 2002 album AcuÃÆ' Â © rdate won the Grammy Award for Best Tejano Album and her 2007 album De Nuevo won the Latin Grammy Award for Best Tejano Album.

Personal life

Navaira has five children. Her three children from her first marriage to Cynthia Navaira also appeared for Grupo Rio. Emilio Navaira IV plays the drums, and Diego Navaira plays Emely guitar and princess. Emilio IV and Diego also have a band called Ready Revolution; in 2016 they formed The Last Bandoleros, a Tex-Mex-foursome who toured together with Sting in 2017. Diego is primarily known for his vocals and credited with his voice, which he unfortunately did not win. He also has two of his second marriages with Maru Navaira,

Navaira has two siblings: Raul "Raulito" Navaira, who performed back-up vocals for Grupo Rio; and Yvette Navaira. Navaira is a Republican.

Accident driving

Navaira was hospitalized in critical condition after his tour bus crashed early in the morning on March 23, 2008, at Bellaire (a small town partially surrounded by Houston, Texas). Navaira had done the night before at Hallabaloos, Houston's nightclub and she was on the wheels of a tour bus while traveling north along the 610 West Loop near the Freeway when crashing into a set of freeway barrels shortly before 4 am Emilio was taken. by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital where a blood clot in his head has been removed; Emilio's initial treatment includes being stored in medical coma and hypothermia induced to minimize brain swelling. The doctor warned him that he might not survive.

On 24 September 2008, Emilio was involved in another car accident in San Antonio as a passenger while his wife was driving. According to one witness, the Navairas were stopped at a turn when a truck traversed at least two lanes of traffic and crashed into their vehicle. Both Emilio and his wife Maria were released from the hospital the next day. Emilio's agent, Joe Casias, stated that Emilio and his wife were heading home from a promise of rehabilitation therapy stemming from a March tour bus accident.

Death

Emilio was found dead by his wife at his home in New Braunfels on May 16, 2016 at 53. Emilio made his last concert at Monterrey, Nuevo LeÃÆ'³n, Mexico, on May 11, 2016, as part of a concert celebrating Mother's Day within the city. Reports indicate he suffered a major heart attack. Authorities say their investigation into the death of Navaira shows that he died of natural causes due to cardiovascular disease, and found no signs of cheating.
