Sebagai First Lady

In many ways, Ramos is an incredible pair of Presidents, despite having a somewhat backward character. Many of the last introductions of the title are housewives, though as host of MalacaÃÆ'Â ± ang Palace; Ramos raised some eyebrows among conservatives when, after his husband's accession after the 1992 three-way election, he refused to resign as a registrar on the Makati campus of the old International School Manila. In spite of his newly honored position as empress of the head of state, he dutifully reports to many recording offices to please female professionals.

He is a highly visible sports advocate, a field outside the traditional First Ladies area. An active sportsman himself, he is most associated with badminton, having served as president of the Badminton Association of the Philippines. His environmental accomplishments were also substantial, having campaigned for the rehabilitation and conservation of the Pasig River, which received considerable attention during his husband's reign. He continues to be active in efforts aimed at Pasig.

Personal life

In addition to being a female sportswoman, Ramos is also known as a talented amateur pianist, who performed on several occasions with Combo Raul Manglapus Executive Band. He also received considerable public sympathy in 1993, when the Philippine Daily Inquirer published a front-page story revealing the alleged past relationship between her husband and Socialite Baby Arenas. Ramos keeps a dignified silence, and the scandal has no visible impact on his marriage for decades.

In the early hours of January 27, 2011, Ramos's daughter, Josephine Ramos-Samartino, died of lung cancer at age 54 at The Medical City in Pasig, Metro Manila. Former President acknowledged soon after that Josephine, the second of her five daughters, was a smoker for 25 years who only revealed her illness to the family five weeks before her death.
